Sri Lanka Opposition Presidential Candidate Sarath Fonseka Arrested

Third Edition (NIDAHASA News) Former army Chief and opposition Presidential candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka has been arrested by a group of Army Police today (08) evening, Military spokesman Major Prasad Samarasingha says.
Fonseka was arrested for committing "military offences", Samarasingha said further
According to reports Former army Chief was taken into custody by troops who stormed the main opposition political office at Rajakeeya Mawatha in Colombo.
"He was dragged away in a very disgraceful manner in front of our own eyes," Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem told Reuters.
Fonseka`s media secretary Senaka de Silva also has been arrested along with him, opposition Member of Parliament Mano Ganeshan said.
In an interview with BBC few days ago, Sri Lanka defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapaska claimed to take action against Former army Chief.
"He accused me of saying that I gave wrong orders. It came out in the newspapers. So taking action later on we will follow the procedures." Rajapaska told BBC.
Fonseka was defeated by incumbent Mahinda Rajapaksa in presidential election held on January. But Fonseka rejected the results and vowed to challenge them in court.
