Sri Lanka President Rajapaksa
(NIDAHASA News) Sri Lanka President Rajapaksa, addressing the nation at the 62nd Independence Day celebrations in Kandy yesterday (04) said that he had always put country first when he took decisions, from waging war against separatists to obtaining foreign aid or loans to maintaining cordial relations with foreign countries.
Not only the security barriers on the roads, we will remove those barriers that obstruct our economic development. The nation was at attention all these time and now we will make the people at east, President stated.
“I know that there are some people and policy makers abroad who have criticized what we did to bring an end to violence and terrorism. They said our measures threatened the people and undermined democracy. This election has shown that the reality is very different. The people of Sri Lanka, democratically and very clearly, have shown that they are free of threats, fear and terrorism, and that they want to embrace the future that could only be achieved through the decisive measures taken last year,” he added.
Speaking in Tamil, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the politicians should not lead the masses in the wrong direction. Dividing politics is not necessary now. All races should get together and work towards development.
