(NIDAHASA News) At least 12 senior military officers sacked by President Mahinda Rajapaksa over fears of a coup after presidential elections, AFP report claims.

They included three senior major generals and two brigadiers accused of interfering in politics during campaigning for Jan. 26 election

A defense ministry statement confirmed the report claiming that the officers had been “sent on compulsory retirement” because they were politically active during and after last week's general election.
