(NIDAHASA News) Elections is surrounded by grave doubts and suspicion with massive allegations of vote rigging and results manipulation, Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe stated this when addressing a media briefing yesterday (29).
"The government embarking on a vicious vendetta course against the General is un-democratic and conspiratorial to obstruct him from his future course of action against the election results" Wickremesinghe added.
"Among the election frauds was , some Ministers and their supporters storming election offices and taking control of them . Elections Commissioner who expressed disgust at the manner in which State officials violated election laws also made mention of these election day incidents."
The Govt. is trying by these raids and sieges to divert and dilute the focus of the Opposition’s future action against these frauds with a view to annulling the results , Ranil pointed out.
Meanwhile UNP Secretary Tissa Attanayake claims that the Govrnment is planning to destroy the vote counting registers and other important details regarding the recent Presidential election. These activities of the Govt. have already been intimated to the Elections Commissioner , he added.
