Sri Lanka Army Soldier Arrested for Kurunegala Bomb

(NIDAHASA News) A soldier who was believed to have been behind the bomb explosion targeting a school van in Kurunegala, Police media spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka says.

He was arrested last night and is now in police custody, police spokesman added.

The soldier had reportedly vacated his post at a nearby army camp, planted the bomb in the van and retuned undetected.

A 12 year-old schoolgirl and the driver of the school van died in the explosion. Eleven others, including eight school children, were injured, hospital sources said.
