At Least 16 Killed, 37 wounded by LTTE Bomb Blast in Nugegoda - Colombo

Third Edition (NIDAHASA News) At least 19 people were killed and over 37 others were wounded by a suspected LTTE suicide bomb blast at Nugegoda junction, Colombo Wednesday evening (28) at 5.50 p.m.


37 wounded have been rushed to Kalubowila and Colombo hospitals. Many school children to be among the victims, Sri Lanka Defense Ministry says.

The fire that had broken out following the explosion had been doused by fire fighting teams. But several vehicles and adjacent buildings were heavily damaged by explosion and fire.

Military said earlier, the bomb was placed in a three-wheeler, but later claimed that was a LTTE suicide attack. But latest Defense Ministry reports says the bomb was inside an unattended parcel which was found at the counter of the shopping complex.

This is the second suspected LTTE blast in Colombo town area within fast 24 hours. LTTE did not immediately commented on this attack
