Sri Lanka Government has decided not to issue visa for R&B star Akon
(NIDAHASA News) Sri Lanka Government has decided not to issue visa for R&B star Akon to enter the country, the Government Information Department says.

This action was taken aster considering the allegations against Akon`s music video, which claimed to be "insulting Buddhism", statement said further.

The Jathika Bhikku Sansadaya, a nationalist Buddhist monks group has also protested the planned concert of Akon.

However Sri Lanka tourism ministry said earlier that they are holding discussions with the concerned authorities to continue with the concert.

“There are many anti Sri Lankan elements who are trying to prevent such an international star from coming into the country. But at the same time there are some strong religious sentiments which are being raised. Both aspects are being studied,” Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau Dileep Mudadeniya said to media earlier.
